My Japan Trip 14-27 Feb 2008 - Part I : Tokyo

My first salary in Singapore

I am entering the second month to work in Singapore.
Yesterday, I got my first salary in Singapore. Though my money crisis already solved, of course, I am happy to have more SIN cash with me here. To celebrate for this important day, I bought sushi to eat to treat myself better, despite it is not as good as in Japan or Hong Kong.

Today, I take day off and will work tmr. I am sooooo tired over the week. I did a lot of physical work at store, in order to work with staffs. There is manpower problem in that store, instead of just instructing or giving advice to solve the shrinkage problem. It is more effective to demonstrate, to push sales together. The staffs start to accept me, receiving my coaching and follow the track. Hope the actual result of sales and shrinkage would show our effort soon!!!

Tommorrow could be a better day

Last Wednesday, it was not a good day for me.
On that day, I ran out all my Singapore dollar cash, but only got my Ezlink card ( like Octopus in HK) for transportation. Then, I got my HK dollar from my sister's friend who were visiting Singapore after work. However, the money exchange shop has closed when I arrived there....
When I got back home, I found that one pack of banana cake was 'invaded' by ants!!!!!!!!!! The day before, I bought a big pack of banana cake for several days to eat, as I ran out of money. I cut and put into 2 microwave boxes nicely. So the ants left one box to me, it has not been contaminated yet. At once, I put it into fridge!!!

Next day, better things came.
I got a chance to visit other stores with a fish buyer, so I learnt more and I also got chance to exchange the HK dollar into SIN dollar. She also discovered that my Ezlink was getting to zero value as I forgot to top up. She exchange the Ezlink with me as she got another spare one. My problem has solved and I got back home in a more efficient way.

So... tommorrow, things may get better......

Always welcome

I will be glad if my friends/family visit me and stay at my home. As I have not employed a maid yet!!!! so.......HAHAHA.... just kidding.I already prepared the spare keys today! But I have not yet bought a bed for the guest room as I am tired after work. The bed you saw in the photo is only for resting when you read, not good enough to sleep. So please inform me in advance, so I can prepare better.
However, one of the inconvenient thing of this apartment is the location. It is in the very east of Singapore, it may take you more time to reach the central part. I am sorry about it.

My apartment

I have shifted my public holiday to today, because I moved into my apartment today ( 20/3/08).
It is a HDB which is built by Singapore Government and sell to citizens who in turn may rent to others.

OK, now let me introduce my home in Singapore.
This is my living room. I like the woody step near the window where I can put cushion where I can sit and lay down.

There is clothes dryer also!!
This is the guest room. Who are interested to visit me will stay in that room and the bathroom! Do you like it?

Living in Singapore

Adaptation of life in Singapore is relatively easier to me than in India. However the expense is quite high.
For example, a bun cost me 1.3 Sin which is about 8 HKD!!! Everything seems to be at least 1 Sin!!!!!
Another thing that I found in Singapore, there is a lot of Malaysians, especially in Giant. Most of them live in Malyasia and travel for 2~3 hours to work in Singapore. As the rate of Singapore dollar is good in Malaysia.
I learnt a sentence of Malaysian. Nama saya Linda = my name is Linda!!!!

Today is my day off, I managed to save some photos to put here now.
This is my hotel room, and the outlook of the hotel. It is quite convenient place, there is a mall in opposite and nearby Katong where Laksa is famous.
These two drama serious are the ones I wanted for a long time, now I bought it at cheap price, may be no market here!!!!
Bus appearance is quite similar to Hong Kong, but we need to scan card get on and also get off the bus, quite troublesome, otherwise, it will charge you 2 Sin. Moreover, the frequency of the bus is less and the journey is quite long!!!!!!!!

Attachment starts...

I have started attachment. Every store, I have to attach 2~3 days to get familar with the operation and people.
Every day, I learn different things: the culture of a hypermarket, structure, mind set of different people, different management styles in different stores...... I want to know more, so I can make the change in a better way and efficiently. Hope I could achieve it.
The apartment has confirmed, I can start to plan what should I buy to put in my home which should be my own style!!!! I am excited about it!

New start in Singapore

There is a long time that I have not updated my blog. My friends, how are you???
After a long vocation in HK and Japan, I have started my new life in Singapore. Today is my sixth day in Singapore. I already got temporary phone card, membership card in VCD/DVD shop, my IC ( work permit), then, I can apply my bank account and mobile network....
An apartment is targeted, hopefully, I can move in on 20 March. Please let me know if you drop in Singapore and you can stay at my home!!!!
I would like to share photos taken in HK, Japan. However, I will only do so when I settle in the apartment and connect to the boardband network. Hope to chat with you all very soon! In the meanwhile, I can only use internet in internet cafe which costs 1 Sin dollar for an hour.
