Today is CNY Day 2, I need to work, but it is joyful to have lunch with colleagues and enjoy the Lion dance show in Giant!

CNY in Singapore 2009

Maybe Giant's store is big enough. Company arranged lion dance inside the store during CNY.

I have joined a reunion party held by my colleagues yesterday night. I tried a CNY traditional, but interesting dish in SG '撈起'. There are different small cups of sauce, vegetable strips and Sashimi. We put them together one by one and said good sentence for every add. Then when we mix with chopsticks, we pull it up as high as possible.

CNY Reunion Dinner

We have a CNY Reunion Dinner yesterday. Instead of traditional Chinese food, I chose Japanese food.
In the converstaion, Peter and Ruth talked a lot about the good living conditions in Singapore e.g. tax system, education, medical system, emotion of Singaporeans...... They know a lot about Singapore much more than me!
I am ashamed, as I have been living here for SG for nearly a year... but I did not take much attention to the external environment :P

Going out on my day off in 2009

Yesterday was my off day. 'I have to go out' I asked myself to do so many times before, but always stayed at home every time.
In fact, this time, I did't want to also as I did not want to quit the good conversation with my friend in interent. However, to have a new start in 2009, I stepped out yesterday, because I have work to do outside also :P
On the way, I passed by the CNY market in China Town. Compare to HK, it is not so attractive to me. But it is special to have decoration on the road, like X'mas.
Why they have the decoration of pineapple shape? Because in Mandarin, pineapple is the same pronounciation of lucky and popular '旺'.
I found a special CNY cake which is an ancient money shape in supermarket. It is very cute, so I bought and put at home as CNY decoration and hope to bring good luck to me.
I also bought a Japanese drama special series DVD for myself. Because I like the drama very much, though I have copied version already which can only play in PC, I want to have the original and it is a bargain of 10SGD only!!!

Shirakawago 白川鄉

Though Yen is very high, Japan is still my favourite place to travel, especially Osaka. There are so many sightseeing places and in different season, I can enjoy different views.
In winter, one of my target place is Shirakawago, a heritage village and there are 7 nights in a year that having light on. I am not sure if I can finally visit on light on day. But when I search for information, there is a very very nice blog of other writing about Shirakawago and you can enjoy the process the day time and night time photos there. It is sooooooo beautiful~~

Additional role : Fresh Manager life

Since 18 December, I have additional role in my job - being a Fresh Manager for Tampines Giant store temporarily. How I look like in uniform?
During the period, I need to follow the shift duty and I would know more details of the operation, not only fresh but other departments, whole store. Good or not good, comfortable or harsh, I am experiencing.
One point is that I would not be that independent as before, as I have my own fresh team and be with the whole store team. Got sharing of work, as well as food!!! The general store manager - Gairo has made milk tart and she shared with us!! Though it is a bit sweet to me, but I like the base!!! Thanks.

CNY products in SG

CNY is around the corner. Giant is also getting more CNY products to push sales.
In SG, Mandarins including Lukan, Mandarins, Tangerine are very very popular and important items. So the booth is very big also, with different packings. The cow case is cute!!!
Another special item is sashimi with other ingredients. I don't know exactly how they mix and eat, but I know they need to pull it up '撈起' and make wishes.
Same as HK, they have CNY plants.

New calender of 2009

2009 has started, I finally opened my friend's New Year gift and made use of it.
My dear friends, Happy New Year! I miss you all very much!!

X'mas 2008 in Singapore

I spent 2008 X'mas in Singapore. After starting the additional role in store as Fresh Manager, I need to work on festival time.

On 25 Dec, I also needed to work. I was so tired and not planning to go out for festival. However, I took another shuttle bus to reach Tampines mall as transit before going back home. There is a big X'mas Tree. To celebrate X'mas by myself, I bought my favourite Oreo cheese cake from Starbuck, though it is expensive, 6.2 SG = more than 30 HKD!!!

Australian R2E2 season has started for a while, Gaint has a promotion, it costs 2.75SG. Size is 12 count, smell and taste quite nice.
